A portion of Clark Street Road in Aurelius was closed to traffic Saturday after a tractor-trailer spilled a large amount of corn, covering the road for about a quarter-mile.

The incident, reported by Cayuga/Seneca Fire Wire, occurred between Laraway Road and Blanchard Road and prompted immediate response from the Aurelius Fire Department and local authorities.

Fire crews arrived on scene, provided command and worked with the Cayuga County Department of Transportation to clear the road. Aurelius Fire Department units were dispatched to close Clark Street Road to prevent further incidents in the area.

A sewage truck was brought in to clean up the spill. No injuries were reported and local authorities are coordinating to restore normal traffic flow as soon as possible.
