New Orleans Emergency Ambulance illegally taken away with personnel on board

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — On Tuesday evening, October 29, New Orleans Emergency Ambulance was illegally suspended with its personnel still inside.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, shortly before 6:55 p.m., EMS responded to a call at the Ozanam Inn on Poydras Street.

While paramedics were treating a patient in the back of the ambulance, a woman reportedly got into the taxi and drove the ambulance away while emergency personnel were still inside, then notified NOPD.

The ambulance eventually stopped at Broad and Farm streets after being stopped by other EMS units. The woman was later reportedly removed from the vehicle by EMS personnel and arrested without incident by NOPD officers.

The woman was taken to University Medical Center for a psychological evaluation, and a warrant is sought for her arrest on charges of simple kidnapping, as well as various other traffic offenses.
