The Baltimore Orioles will enter a crucial free agency period this summer after a disappointing finish to the 2024 season. And one MLB insiders expect them to make several big deals.

As part of his list 25 early offseason predictionsThe Athletic’s Jim Bowden offered a perspective that will excite Orioles fans.

golden oriole ink Blake Snell Sign a three-year, $105 million deal and then trade three strong prospects. Athletics to throw the flame closer Mason MillerThey turned him back into a starting pitcher, Bowden wrote.

Bowden also projects Orioles star Corbin Burnes to move to the New York Mets, but Baltimore will replace him fairly quickly.

Snell, who Bowden projected to the Orioles in free agency, was baseball’s best pitcher over the final 14 games through the end of the 2024 season. In those 14 starts, Snell went 5-0 with a 1.23 ERA and 114 strikeouts. Snell also threw a no-hitter during that stretch.

Miller, 26, has found his way into the big leagues as a reliever this season. He has expressed a desire to return to the starting role that Bowden envisions here, but that might not make much sense.

Miller posted a 2.49 ERA with 28 saves last season. He was one of the best bullpen players in the entire league.

The possibilities that Baltimore would need to move to acquire Miller were not mentioned by Bowden, but it wouldn’t be cheap considering the pitchers’ market value.
