Ravindra Jadeja shocked by India’s late collapse on Day 1: It happened within 10 minutes

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja joked that the dressing room had no time to analyze or regret a dismissal later on Day 1 as the team lost back-to-back wickets in a 10-minute span in Mumbai on Friday (November 1).

The Indian team collapsed late on Day 1 of their last Test match against New Zealand. Starting from 78/1, India grabbed a huge advantage and closed the day at 86/4 in just 10 minutes. The mood of the Mumbai crowd soured as Yahasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj and Virat Kohli took their wickets to put India in trouble.

Speaking after the day’s match, Jadeja said he did not know how the dressing room would react as India lost back-to-back wickets. However, the actor said individuals should not be held responsible for Friday’s collapse.

“We didn’t get any time. Everything happened in 10 minutes. It’s a team game and we can’t blame individuals. The next morning we have to build small partnerships and try to get close to the 235-run total set by New Zealand,” Ravindra Jadeja said at the press conference held at the end of the day’s play.

There was anger among Indian fans and pundits, especially at Virat Kohli, who tried to sneak a run in the middle of the game. Kohli failed to judge the fielder and fell grossly short at the crease and that became the final dismissal of the day. Former India cricketer Mohammed Kaif was furious with the batsman and criticized him for his poor decisions throughout the series.

“Virat Kohli has suffered a complete defeat in this series and now this lapse in judgment will end. This needs to change if India is to reach the WTC final,” Mohammed Kaif wrote on Twitter on Friday.
