Valley Senior Services opens new dining site in Casselton

CASSELTON, ND (Valley News Live) – Valley Senior Services announced the opening of a new senior meal site at Martin’s Lutheran Church in Casselton. Starting November 1, nutritious meals will be served to seniors (60+) on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 11.30am.

This new site aims to provide seniors in the community with access to healthy meals in a social setting prepared by registered dietitians licensed to meet Older Americans Act standards.

Seniors are encouraged to sign up for meals by noon the day before by registering on the dining website or calling 701-347-8219. The suggested donation is $4.00 per meal, but no one will be turned away due to inability or unwillingness to donate.

Donations help cover the full cost of each meal, which averages around $11.75. Contributions go directly back into the program and can be made at the food site, by calling the VSS Home Office at (701) 293-1440, or online at: //valleyseniorservices.org/donate. Seniors who want to use SNAP benefits for food donations are also encouraged to call their home office.

“We are excited to expand our services to Casselton,” said Valley Senior Services Program Manager Kassandra Emmanuel. “Casselton has demonstrated strong community support, and we are proud to offer seniors the opportunity to enjoy nutritious meals and connect with others.”

The establishment of the food court is the result of partnerships between Valley Senior Services and several community organizations, including the Casselton Office of Community and Economic Development, the City of Casselton, Casselton Park District, Casselton American Legion Club, Casselton Silver Threads Senior Club and Martin’s Lutheran. Church.

“Casselton is home to over 300 residents aged over 65. Additionally, there were 90 households where someone aged 65 or over lived alone. “We are grateful to all of our partners who have come together to provide low-barrier mass senior meals in Casselton, who play a crucial role in supporting our older adults.”

He added: “This is more than just a meal; it offers social interaction, support and access to vital resources. Our seniors are a valuable population of our community and we will continue to look for ways to ensure Casselton meets their needs and the needs of their loved ones.”

To sign up for meals, call the dining reservation line at 701-347-8219 and include your name, phone number, and the dates the meals are reserved. Alternatively, dining reservations can be made by registering in person at Martin’s Lutheran Church. For more details visit: www.valleyseniorservices.org
