Police said a family of three, including young children, were found dead in the home from possible carbon monoxide poisoning.

(Gray News) – Several members of a Wyoming family have died from what is believed to be carbon monoxide poisoning in their home, according to authorities.

Riverton Police were called to a home after someone reported smelling smoke in the area.

Authorities forced their way into a home and found several family members dead inside.

In total, three family members, two adults and a toddler, were found dead, along with several dead family pets. the police said.

Fire personnel checked the situation at the home after receiving dangerously high carbon monoxide readings from the home.

Carbon monoxide is sometimes referred to as the “silent killer” because it is an odorless and colorless gas.

Because it can be caused by common household appliances, vehicle exhaust and heating systems, caution and preventative measures are vital in every home.

The investigation into the incident continues.
