A murder investigation has been launched after a woman was found dead in a house in Greater Manchester.

Police were called to Furness Square in Bolton on Tuesday morning after receiving reports of concerns for the woman’s welfare.

The 59-year-old was pronounced dead on arrival.

Manchester Police said a 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Det Ch Insp Dave Turner said: “The thoughts of the entire investigating team are now confined to the victim’s family.

“We are determined to get answers and determine what happened.”
