Smoke seen near recent wildfire in Oakland hills

“Yes, again”: Those are the words of the Oakland Fire Department after smoke was spotted near the Keller Boulevard exit of Interstate 580 in Oakland on Saturday afternoon.

Oakland fire officials said the fire in the car started around 3:10 p.m. and produced a lot of smoke. They said the fire did not spread into vegetation due to the quick response of Engines 26 and 17.

The California Highway Patrol says the right shoulder of the highway is affected and drivers should expect delays.

Earlier this month, Keller Boulevard was the scene of a vegetation fire burning in the Oakland hills, prompting a five-alarm response.

Hundreds of people were evacuated as a precaution. Authorities said that approximately 15 decares of land burned in the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to Cal Fire.
