What is the plot of the movie Until I Kill You?

Until It Kills You It tells the story of Balmer, a hospital nurse who begins a relationship with John Sweeney, unaware that he had previously committed murder.

As their relationship deteriorates, Sweeney’s behavior towards Delia becomes more erratic and violent, culminating in an attack in Amsterdam in which he confesses to brutally murdering an ex-girlfriend.

Failed by the police and legal system, Delia’s life is threatened when John bails and makes a second attempt on her life.

Until It Kills You It is based on Delia’s book about her harrowing experiences and the impact they have had on her life to this day.

Although set in North London, the series was filmed mainly in Swansea; Short one-day shoots took place in both Camden and Amsterdam.

The decision to film in the Welsh city was due to gentrification changing the streets of London since the 1990s, when the story is set. It also helped reduce production costs and avoid crowds on the capital’s busy streets.

Cardiff was initially considered as the primary location, but ‘it didn’t have the kind of architecture that North London, particularly Kentish Town, has’, explains producer Ken Horn.

Camden

Scenes where actress Anna Maxwell Martin was filmed walking along the towpath were filmed at Camden Lock and on the bridge by Camden Market.

Due to Camden’s popularity with tourists, filming took place very early in the morning. Another challenge the filmmakers had to overcome was the post-production task of painting modern cars that would look very out of place in the 1990s.

Primrose Hill

Primrose Hill shows Delia cycling home from work in the series’ final episode, with London’s skyline in the background.

“We had to paint a lot of the buildings because there were no Cucumbers and places like that back then, so we got rid of them,” said series producer Ken Horn. Time out.

SWANSEA LOCATIONS

It was filmed in a disused car factory in Swansea, the hospital where Balmer worked; The outpatient area seen throughout the series was previously the staff canteen.

Kon Tiki cocktail bar

Located off Wind Street in central Swansea Kon Tiki bar The bar where John and Delia first met was used as a filming location.

Wind Street was also used later in the series for scenes of punters celebrating at Christmas time.

Path of the Green Dragon

When Delia and John attend her manager’s birthday party, John’s behavior causes them to leave early. Green Dragon Lane was used to film an argument between the pair, which saw John jump into a nearby car.

No Sign Wine Bar, Wind Street

A historic independent pub in the heart of Swansea. Unmarked Wine BarThe series sees Delia and Leah meeting for drinks at Christmas.

‘It’s such a beautiful old pub, we didn’t need to do much for it. Producer Ken Horn says most of these places look like they did in the ’90s Time out.

Swansea Coroner’s Court

Swansea’s coroner’s court was used for dramatic court scenes towards the end of the series, and the production covered the walls with wood paneling to make it look like London’s Old Bailey.

La Braseria, Wind Street

A fish restaurant located in the center of Swansea La Braseria Towards the end of the series, Delia and Dave are seen arguing in a Greek restaurant before being arrested.

AMSTERDAM LOCATIONS

One subplot features the father of one of Sweeney’s victims traveling to Amsterdam to find answers about her disappearance.

Exterior shots of buildings in Amsterdam were shot during a one-day shoot in the Dutch city, while interior scenes of the police station were filmed in the basements of a building in Swansea.

Who is in the cast?

Anna Maxwell Martin leads the cast, taking on the role of Delia Balmer. He is best known for his roles Mission AreaFatherland, and period drama Bleak House.

Shaun Evans plays serial killer John Sweeney. His previous screen work included leading roles in detective series. effortand stars opposite Suranne Jones in the submarine thriller Watch.

Kevin Doyle plays David, with whom the traumatized Balmer becomes romantically involved years after the attack.

The actor is best known for his roles. Downton Abbey as Mr Molesley and Witcher as the elf Bal’lian.

Lucy Thackeray (Moon Knight) as WPC Jane Barker, while Amanda Wilkin (Am I being unreasonable?) Appears as Leah, Delia’s close friend and colleague.

How to watch you until it kills you

Until It Kills You It will air four consecutive nights on ITV from Sunday 3 November to Wednesday 6 November at 9pm.
