From Wellesley Victorian: A modern makeover

“I imagined this space as the inside of a jewel box,” said founder Jamie Keskin. Jamie Keskin Design, he says. “I wanted it to be cozy and immersive, but not too dark or heavy,” he says of the 10-by-16-foot cave. Keskin first designed the space in 2012 at the historic Wellesley Victorian, but after redesigning the adjoining family room (the study is right next door, with glass pocket doors) the owners decided it needed a refresh there, too. “My wife uses it as an office; there’s a small table behind the chairs, and it works well as overflow seating for parties,” Keskin says. “This iteration is more comfortable and welcoming.”

1 Airy chairs their curved backs and low profiles don’t block either side of the room or view; They are also easy to move around. The deep raspberry color of the Marika Meyer Studio pillows is a nod to her husband’s favorite color, while the striped vine pattern juxtaposes the geometric pattern on the walls.

2 Replaced sharp sofas and coffee tables with a more modern design divan Made from soft, durable fabric; Plus it’s long enough for naps. The Elizabeth Eakins pillow in the center ties together the colors in the room.

3 Huey Lightshop walnut and rice sconces Curvy ceramic tones give the feeling of a built-in nook, and extra-large bird prints from Wendover Art add a bit of whimsy and balance the single sofa.

4 To start, Keskin covered the room with a woven lawn blanket by Phillip Jeffries. wall covering dark blue background that gives a comfortable feeling with texture and a small-scale diamond pattern that covers the entire surface.

6 In a skirt Ottoman It prevents excess furniture legs and grounds the seating area. “It’s a traditional application, but made with a fun, modern fabric,” Keskin notes. Additionally, its oval shape serves the entire sofa and facilitates circulation.
