Although Halloween is associated with excitement and chills, it’s also an ideal playground for fashionistas. But this time of year isn’t necessarily for those aiming for red carpet perfection. It’s also for style enthusiasts who like to have fun with fashion by dressing up in iconic pop culture outfits for the festival. This Halloween 2024, Elsa Hosk was one of them. The Swedish supermodel didn’t choose her Halloween costume from popular TV show characters or the usual monsters; his was “iconic” in every sense of the word. Elsa dressed as Princess Diana in one of her most famous appearances; that famous revenge dress.

In photos of Elsa on Instagram, she is seen decked out in a similar fashion to the one in the original photo, walking down a lush lane towards a car. For her outfit, Elsa wore an off-the-shoulder black dress with a sweetheart neckline that hugged the body and left a trail behind. She was accompanied by sheer black tights and black slingback heels. Almost identical to Diana, Elsa wore a pearl choker necklace with a stone pendant in the middle and a bracelet on one of her wrists. Elsa, who wore the same make-up, had intensely contoured cheeks, pink lips and kohl-lined eyes. The hit was a short blonde wig with a shaggy cut, the same haircut that Princess Diana was best known for.

The story behind the original photo is what makes it so iconic. In June 1994, Princess Diana showed off her most revealing appearance in a public appearance that was very different from the dress code followed by the British monarchy. She wore it the night Prince Charles confessed his infidelity to her on national television. The dress designed by Christina Stambolian has since become known as the ‘revenge dress’ because it says so much even though she only says one word.

Elsa Holk made sure no one else’s Halloween 2024 costume could beat hers, that’s for sure.
