Tobias Harris reacts to Detroit Pistons’ win over Philadelphia 76ers

Wednesday night. Emotions ran high for Tobias Harris and others Detroit Pistons. Not only did they get their first win of the season, but the experienced striker also managed to move up the table against his former team.

Before signing with the Pistons in free agency this summer, Harris spent the last half-decade as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers. His contract and ever-changing role made him a somewhat polarizing figure during his time there. Now, just a few months after signing with a team, Harris finds himself back on pace.

Harris made his presence felt in the Pistons’ 105-95 win over the Sixers. He achieved his first double-double of the season with 18 points and 14 rebounds. The outing was his best performance early in his second race in Detroit.

After Wednesday’s win, Harris asked what it was like for the Pistons to get their first win. He stated that the team’s morale was high, but he did not hesitate to admit that the losing streak put pressure on them.

“It’s obviously something for the whole group, whether you say it or not, getting that first W puts the onus on us. So going out there, executing the game plan and staying locked in all night,” Harris said. “This was a collective effort and these are some of the best wins. These are always very good feeling wins for us as a whole collective group.”

Harris also touched on the reaction he received from Philly fans in his first game. The Sixers played a tribute video for him, but he spliced it with Paul Reed on his way back.

“I thought the reception was great. Obviously there’s going to be booing, there’s going to be people cheering. That’s the way it is with any kind of reception,” Harris continued. “This is a crowd that boos their own team, so that’s kind of what it is. Tonight, I thought I did a good job staying with it all night. I don’t let it get to me, I just really embrace my team and these guys.”

The early return gave Harris the opportunity to quickly put this part of his career behind him. Going forward, he will continue to be a leader for the Pistons both on and off the court.
