league of legends VALORANT will transition to a competitive format similar to the Americas League, as North and South American teams merge to form a new league called League of Legends Championship of The Americas (LTA).

As the 2024 League of Legends cycle comes to a close, fans are greeted with new changes to the competitive landscape as we head into 2025. Now North and South American League of Legends fans have a new league to follow next year. The LCS, CBLoL and LLA leagues have been synonymous with the North American, Brazilian and Latin American League of Legends for years. But these three established regions will now blend all these leagues to form the LTA.

Here’s the format, teams, start date and everything else you need in the beginner’s guide to understanding the new League of Legends Inter-American Championship (LTA) heading into 2025.

LTA will be divided into two conferences, LTA North and LTA South. Each conference will feature eight teams competing in three LTA divisions throughout the 2025 season.

Here’s how each of the three parts will play out:

LTA Divided into Three

Similar to the previous two divisions, both the Northern and Southern Conferences will compete in cross-conference. However, the Trio Division of the LTA 2025 season will have a unique format known as the Pick and Play system. This system will allow youth teams to select their next opponent live on stage. The opening matches of the Triple Split will be determined by the Split Standings, before using this Pick and Play Format that benefits lower-seeded teams. Teams cannot play a team more than once in this format, and the Second Part Standings will serve as the tiebreaker in Part Three.

The final three weeks will lead into the knockout phase, where only six teams (three each from the North and South) will remain standing at the end of Division Three, and they will all qualify for the 2025 Americas Regionals.

The remaining four teams will compete for the final in the Americas at the 2025 World Championship, with the defending champion of these six teams going home with their first LTA trophy.

The LTA North Conference will feature six Partner Slots and two Guest slots. The LTA South Conference will feature seven Partner Slots and one reserved spot for the Visiting Team.

This will be the organization’s first foray into Tier One League of Legends after spending the last two years competing in the League’s flagship NACL. Tier Two North American development system.

LTA Partner teams are permanent team slots in the new LoL Americas system, while LTA Guest slots are temporary positions in the Tier One ecosystem. A total of 13 LTA Partner teams and three LTA Guest teams are currently competing in 2025.

This is what it means to be a “Guest Team” for 100 Thieves, Disguised and Isurus Gaming.
