Fired Disney employee allegedly hacked into company system to change allergen information on menus

(CNN) – A former Disney employee is accused of hacking into the company’s servers to alter menus with false information.

According to a federal criminal complaint filed in Florida, Michael Scheuer falsified allergen information and posted profane language.

Disney is not named in the complaint, but an attorney representing the suspect in the case confirmed to CNN that Disney was the company involved.

The complaint states that Scheuer was a menu production manager at Disney but was fired for misconduct in June.

Scheuer is also accused of using a bot to attempt more than 100,000 logins into the accounts of at least 14 Disney employees, effectively locking them out of the system.

Scheuer denied any wrongdoing and said Disney was “trying to frame him.”

Scheuer’s lawyer said his client had a “mental health disability” that caused panic attacks at work and led to his termination.

The complaint alleges that Scheuer’s months-long cyberattack cost Disney at least $150,000.
