Juan Soto Gives Cryptic Response When Asked About Being Mets’ Free Agency Target

with New York Mets The Juan Soto Sweepstakes can now officially begin after the crosstown rival Yankees lost the World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday.

The consensus among the baseball community is that the 26-year-old Soto has two most likely targets. free agency is the Mets and Yankees.

Some believe the Yankees have the advantage because Soto enjoyed a season in the Bronx and they made it to the World Series.

The Mets, on the other hand, are based in New York, made it to the NLCS (and played better against the Dodgers than the Yankees), and appear willing to pay Soto whatever he wants to bring his talents to Queens.

But Soto didn’t offer many details when asked if he expected the Mets to pursue him in free agency while speaking to the media following Wednesday’s Game 5 loss to the Yankees.

“I don’t know what teams will come after me,” Soto said. per SNY. “But I’ll definitely be open to that and any team. I don’t have a closed door or anything like that. So I’ll be available for all 30 teams.”

It would be hard to expect a more definitive response from Soto, considering his season with the Yankees ended just minutes ago, and he was certainly still digesting the defeat.

Regardless, all indications are that the Mets will be one of the few frontrunners once Soto and manager Scott Boras allow free agency to begin.
