NY State Trooper shot during traffic stop; Suspect still at large (reports)

A New York State Trooper was shot during a traffic stop Wednesday night, according to multiple reports.

Officials told New York Post The shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. on the Southern State Parkway in West Hempstead, Long Island. A state trooper pulled over a black Dodge Charger and was shot by a person inside the vehicle, sources told the Post.

NBC Police believe the suspect fled the scene and remains at large. Authorities said they were in a vehicle with New Jersey temporary tag NJ 997636T.

It was reported that the unidentified soldier suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in stable condition. A fellow New York State Police officer provided assistance before the injured trooper was taken to the hospital. ABC remail.
