Inspector general finds Bristol officer justified in shooting woman in police department lobby

BRISTOL, CT (WFSB) – An officer who shot at a woman in the Bristol Police Department lobby was found justified in his actions.

The Office of Inspector General said Bristol Officer Spencer Boisvert responded to the following question: Deadly power from Suzanne Laprise On October 10, 2023.

Laprise parked his vehicle in front of the department on North Main Street around 11:40 p.m.

The inspector general’s report, released Thursday, said the woman had been drinking at a local bar before arriving.

“Laprise He entered the lobby with a gun in his hand The report stated that he stood on his head and walked up through the window. “He hit the window with the gun about a dozen times, then shot at the window and a few minutes later at the door to the left of the window.”

Boisvert was positioned inside the police department along a corridor behind a door to the right of the glass windows, the report said. He could see Laprise from where he was.

“He fired two shots at Laprise with his duty pistol,” it was said. “No shots went through the door window.”

The report stated that as Laprise put down his gun, the police rushed out of the left door, neutralized him with a stun gun and arrested him.

The investigator said the investigation revealed that Laprise was actively using deadly force against members of the Bristol Police Department at the time Boisvert discharged his firearm.

“Boisvert acted righteously in his attempt to stop the threat,” the report said.
