    Disappointing offense, lack of sharpness

    “There are some players who maybe weren’t in the rotation and got the opportunity. Whether it’s a mistake, lack of technique, fundamentals in some cases, we have to be better,” Norvell said. “There have been some good moments but I want the guys to be ready for it when they get their chance.”

    While it was a day to forget for the offense, Seminoles’ defense took advantage and we put together a second straight solid workout.

    The defensive front was active, completing multiple passes at the line of scrimmage and putting pressure on the quarterbacks. darrell jackson He made a few big plays, scrambling through blocks to get into the backfield.

    Azareye’h Thomas and KJ Kirkland Both had big plays. Thomas had a few impressive passing rushes as he continued to dominate in practice.

    Kirkland made a good read on the throw to the back corner of the end zone and put his hand on the ball before the receiver had a chance to make a play.

    Young defenders playing games

    Norvell has praised his young defenders numerous times this season; Charles Lester III, Cai Bates and Ricky Knight have been impressive this season.

    Bates had a few good moments on Wednesday, especially in one-on-one coverage. He carried out his duties well, timing his moves well to break up passes and keep opposing players from making plays.

    Both Lester and Knight had strong moments.

    Lester was sticky in coverage, frequently closing in on opponents in pass protection, and wasn’t targeted much outside of one-on-one drills. Despite being on the scouting team, Knight continues to impress and is often one of the most effective players on the ball.

    Norvell was pleased with his defensive performance.

    “I’ve been really pleased with what I’ve seen from this group, I think they have a big upside,” Norvell said. “These guys haven’t gotten a lot of opportunities in the game, so for now they’re scouting and trying to maximize every rep. They’re competitive, they work, and they bring great energy. I love what I do.’ I see from them.”
