Week 10 Huntsville Player of the Week moves to top of poll list

The Week 10 Huntsville Times Player of the Week rolled for 200-plus yards down the field and his team needed a win in tight territory. Thanks to these efforts, he received 52 percent of the 7,789 votes cast in the election. AL.com questionnaire.

Senior running back Diego Holt of North Jackson rushed for 234 yards on 37 carries and four touchdowns as the Indians beat Randolph 28-26 in a Class 4A, Region 8 game to give Stevenson’s team a head-to-head tiebreaker. The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder finished the poll with 4,047 votes.

Both 7-2 North Jackson and 6-3 Randolph are 6-1 in the district; The Indians wrap up regular season play at DAR on Friday and Randolph hosts New Hope in regionals.

Madison Academy’s Josh Williams finished second in the voting with 2,650 votes (34 percent). The senior running back rushed for 275 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 24-16 victory over Plainview. The 5-4 Mustangs put their 5-2 4A, Region 8 record on the line Friday in the regular-season finale at Westminster Christian.

Westminster Christian junior point guard Houston Scott finished third in the voting, receiving 1,013 votes (13 percent). Scott completed 22 of 34 passes for 200 yards and a touchdown in a 21-14 win over New Hope, clinching a 4A playoff spot. The 6-5, 184-pounder also added 21 more yards on the ground. The Wildcats (6-3, 5-2) will host Madison Academy on Friday.
