    Michigan State Police arrest man in Monroe County stabbing

    Michigan State Police arrested a man for allegedly stabbing a woman in Monroe County, authorities announced.

    Troopers with MSP Monroe Post spoke with the 59-year-old Monroe female victim after she was transported to Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, agents said in a news release.

    According to the statement, investigators determined that the seriously injured woman had been the victim of domestic violence and interviewed the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Monroe.

    Police also determined probable cause to obtain a search warrant at the suspect’s home where the stabbing occurred.

    Authorities arrested the man on a charge of assault with intent to murder and booked him into the Monroe County Jail, according to the release.

    The woman remains in hospital in stable condition.

    State police ask anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Trooper Evan Rzeppa at (734) 242-3500.

    The incident follows a series of other stabbings in the area.
