Former Braves Star Freddie Freeman Wins World Series MVP

Former Atlanta Braves Star first baseman Freddie Freeman is capping a historic World Series run with the honor of being named the 2024 World Series MVP.

He will complete his runWith a .300 batting average with a 1.364 OPS with four home runs and 12 RBIs. He struck out only once, and that was his last at-bat of the entire series.

“This is everything,” he told Fox Sports’ Kevin Burkhardt as he accepted the award.

But Freeman not only delivered a dominant performance, he also set many milestones along the way. This is one of the rare times when the most valuable player is determined almost from the beginning of the series.

The first was a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 10th inning, winning the game 6-3. This was the first walk-off grand slam in World Series history. He then scored in the first four matches. He returns for the 2021 World Series with the Braves, riding a six-game hitting streak in the World Series. It is a record.

The final piece of his historic performance was his 12 RBIs. Record broken by Bobby Richardsonwho was a Yankee in the 1960 World Series. But Richardson needed six of seven games in that series to reach 12; Freeman only needed five.

Additionally, Freeman will celebrate the championship. Richardson is the only World Series MVP to ever lose.

For Braves fans who are forced to sit and watch two teams they would never choose to win play each other in the World Series, they can at least be happy to have their former stars step up.

This came after struggling with an ankle injury during the NLDS and NLCS. He had precious rest time and was able to make the call.

Freeman takes home the second World Series ring of his career. Make it two-for-two on Fall Classic outings and still overall in two of the last four Fall Classics.
