Two women injured in shooting in Maple Heights library parking lot

MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio — Two women were injured Wednesday afternoon when shots were fired during an argument in the parking lot of a branch of the Cuyahoga County Library, police said.

Police said the shooting happened around 3:20 p.m. at 5225 Library Lane. Multiple calls were made to 911, stating that two women were arguing in the parking lot and one of the women was carrying a firearm. Another caller reported hearing gunshots.

When officers arrived, they found two women suffering from gunshot wounds, police said. A 20-year-old woman was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. The 22-year-old woman was taken to Marymount Hospital in Garfield Heights and then transferred to MetroHealth.

The conditions of the two women were not available Wednesday night. Police announced that a firearm was seized at the scene.
