In late October 2024, a rumor circulating online claimed that American flags were not visible at the rally supporting US Vice President Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign.

For example, on October 28, 2024, X user @TONYxTWO republished (archived) is a short video clip shot at the rally for Harris held that day at the Liacouras Center on the campus of Temple University in Philadelphia. One user replied: Photograph (archived) Harris and Walz allegedly displayed American flags at the same rally. The user responded to @TONYxTWO’s claim that “there is not one American flag” at the October 28 rally with one word: “Of course.”

We found that photographer Erin Schaff took this photo for: New York Times at a campaign rally at the same arena in Philadelphia on August 6.

We contacted three officials from Harris’ campaign team for comment about the allegation about the Oct. 28 rally in Philadelphia, but did not hear back within several hours. We’ll update this story if we uncover more details.
