INOAC plant in Freemont will close and hundreds of workers will be laid off, employees say

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Hundreds of workers could be out of a job as another factory closes its doors in Fremont.

INOAC External Systems employees said they were informed that next year will be their last year. The news came suddenly.

“There were about three (hundred) to 400 people, I know a lot of people who have been there 20-25 years,” one employee said.

Employees told them that the company had been fighting against the closure of the facility for a while and that they had suffered losses of more than $50 million.

“So we knew there was a slowdown, maybe a layoff or maybe a shift reduction or two, but we didn’t expect to close the doors,” the employee said.

Employees said that the date when the facility will completely close is August 2025.

The worker we spoke to said that for many of his colleagues, the closure has left them in a difficult situation.

“Many employees who have been there 20-25+ years are not old enough yet to collect their Social Security and still want to work, and now they have to start over,” they said.

The facility’s closure follows multiple facility managers in recent years, employees added.
