CEDAR RAPIDS — After 6 years of business, a breakfast and lunch spot in Cedar Rapids is closing.

The owner of Bea’s Cafe said in a brief social media announcement Sunday that Tuesday, Oct. 28 will be the restaurant’s last day open.

Owner Shannon O’Shaughnessy said the decision was made due to her health following surgery earlier this month.

“I’m not sure if recovery or the next chapter will be anything other than regaining my health,” he said in the post, thanking families who frequent the restaurant. “This is so emotional for me I can’t even explain it. I didn’t see it coming until I saw it.

O’Shaughnessy buys restaurant 2727 Sixth St. Previously a Riley’s Cafe location, SW changed its name in November 2019 to avoid closing in 2019. Today this address is as follows: Tiffy Jo’s – another breakfast and lunch meal.

Bea’s Cafe later opened at 3100 Sixth St. Moved to SW.
