Woman shot by stray bullet in Chatham apartment: CPDA 20-year-old woman was injured by a stray bullet in a robbery a block away in Chatham on Monday night, Chicago police said.

CHICAGO (Wales) — A 20-year-old woman who was struck by a stray bullet during a nearby robbery on the South Side Monday night is recovering, Chicago police said.

The robbery took place around 9:32 p.m. in the 8200 block of South Cottage Grove Boulevard.

A 34-year-old man was at the bus stop when police say three male suspects approached him and demanded his property. As the man tried to escape, the suspects opened fire on him.

Police said one of the bullets entered an apartment in the 8200 block of South Evans Avenue and struck a 20-year-old woman in the shoulder.

The woman was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in stable condition.

No other injuries were reported and no suspects were taken into custody, police said.
