Colors of Indonesia 2024: A showcase of post-pandemic design innovations – Lifestyle

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted lives around the world, but it has also refocused our attention on what really matters: health, family, friends, and nature’s simple gifts of sunshine and clean air. And it seems that this change continues to shape home interior designs and influence choices to this day.

“Previously, Indonesians emphasized the architecture of a house as a reflection of their economic situation,” interior designer Ary Juwono said in a phone interview on September 21.

“However, after more than two years at home, many people have realized the discomfort of living in poorly designed interiors.”

This awareness has sparked a growing desire to improve home interiors by focusing on comfort and overall well-being. This was clearly seen at the biennial “Colors of Indonesia” (TCOI) exhibition showcasing the latest design trends, held in Central Jakarta’s Senayan City from September 1 to 14.

During the exhibition, twelve Indonesian designers from the ID12 group presented their work in a showcase titled “Summer House”, where each designer collectively designed one or two rooms that evoke the essence of a tropical home.

“The ‘Summer House’ theme represents a bright, airy home with wide open spaces that reflects today’s design preferences,” said Ary, chair of this year’s exhibition.
