Hong Kong police have launched a murder investigation after a non-Chinese woman in her 30s was found dead under a waterfall in a park in Pok Fu Lam.

Officers from the agency’s elite search team were dispatched to Waterfall Bay Park near Wah Fu Mansion on Tuesday morning, where they descended from the top of the falls to collect evidence.

A suspect wanted by police in connection with the incident has fled the city, a source said.

At around noon, officers from the Hong Kong Island regional crime unit were seen conducting an investigation in the park.

Another source said Tuesday that police are treating the incident as a homicide.
