Driver injured in crash involving pickup truck and trailer on US 60 at Apache Junction

APACHE JUNCTION, AZ (AZFamily) — A portion of U.S. 60 was closed in the East Valley for hours following a serious injury crash early Monday afternoon.

The collision occurred in the eastbound lane around 1 p.m. US 60 near Meridian Road. A westbound pickup truck careens a trailer with gravel pipes into the median, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The trailer then collided with an eastbound car, seriously injuring the driver, DPS said.

Video from AZFamily’s news helicopter shows a heavily damaged pickup truck, trailer and sedan.

Eastbound traffic was diverted to Signal Butte Road until lanes reopened around 4 p.m.

The investigation into the accident continues.
