Murder suspect’s trial date has been announced

charleston, W.Va.. (WSAZ) – The man accused of killing a woman and wrapping her body in a blanket has been declared competent to stand trial.

İzak Surface’s hearing was postponed to March 3.

Izak Surface, 21, was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Lora Farley after confessing to the crime, according to the Charleston Police Department.

Officers found Farley’s body wrapped in a blanket on Jan. 18 in an upstairs bedroom of a home on Chandler Drive in Charleston.

Officers also found blood on the blanket, bed and wall.

Farley had an injury to the back of his head, which officers said resulted from some type of blunt force trauma, according to the criminal complaint.

An autopsy determined that Farley was struck in the head at least three times with a blunt object.

One of the injuries was shaped like an “arch” consistent with a large vase found in the bedroom of the home on Chandler Drive, according to investigators.

The autopsy also revealed that Farley had blunt force injuries to his hands, abrasions to his internal neck muscles, and other injuries consistent with strangulation.

On January 21, Surface was arrested on an unrelated warrant.

During an interview, Surface admitted to strangling Farley by repeatedly hitting her in the head with a large vase.

Surface told interviewers that he placed Farley’s body on the bed and covered the blood, the vase and his face.
