Man hit by truck in Tampa dies: Police

TAMPA, Fla. — A man was killed after being struck by a truck in Tampa early Monday morning.

The Tampa Police Department said officers responded to the crash near West Hillsborough Boulevard and North Lois Boulevard around 6:57 a.m.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was crossing the street outside a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a white Ford F350 turning east onto Hillsborough Boulevard. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Police said speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash at this time and no criminal charges are anticipated.

The man, who police said was in his mid-50s, was seriously injured when they arrived at the scene. He was taken to a local hospital and died there.

The eastbound lanes of West Hillsborough Boulevard were temporarily closed during the police investigation, but all lanes have now reopened.
