Suspect taken into custody after man shot to death in Prince George’s County: police

A man was shot and killed following a traffic accident in Prince George’s County, police said.

Morningside Police officers and Prince George’s County police responded to the intersection of Suitland Road and Randolph Road in Morningside, Maryland, for a report of a two-car crash.

The incident escalated into a shootout before police arrived at the scene, and the caller told police shots had been fired.

According to investigators, the person in one of the vehicles involved in the accident fired a gun at the person in the other vehicle after a verbal and physical argument.

When they arrived, officers saw a man lying on Randolph Road. He was transported by Prince George’s County Fire and Emergency Services to a local medical facility, where he was pronounced dead.

The person who fired a handgun at the victim was detained by police at the scene and taken to the Prince George’s County Police Major Crimes Division.

The identity of the victim has not been released at this time.

The investigation is being conducted by the PGPD Homicide Unit and is ongoing.
