This is the dramatic moment a digger collapsed and toppled while demolishing a former brewery in Lancashire.

Drone footage captured the moment when heavy machinery suddenly overturned, causing bricks to fly across the road at the site of the former Thwaites Brewery in Blackburn, forcing workers to run for cover.

Photos later revealed the extent of the damage and the vehicle was seen dangling on a mountain of rubble.

The digger was in the process of demolishing an old visitor center that was part of the former brewery when the incident occurred. Luckily no one was injured.

The building, owned by the Issa brothers’ Monte Blackburn Ltd property arm, is currently being redeveloped as part of the council’s £250 million plan to be carried out over the next 10 years.

The vehicle suddenly overturned and workers on site had to flee the scene.

According to a passerby, the digger appeared to be stuck on a large pile of rubble.

The vehicle was safely removed the next day, allowing demolition work to continue.

The building, owned by the Issa brothers’ Monte Blackburn Ltd property arm, is currently being redeveloped as part of the council’s £250 million plan.

The regeneration scheme is the largest of its kind in the north west and surrounds the former brewery.

The project will include a £60 million skills campus, a cultural precinct, a relocated Morrisons store and the redesign of St John’s Church.

The demolition process was able to continue the next day after the vehicle was recovered.

A passerby who saw the digger collapse said: ‘Looks like there was some trouble in the rubble.

‘I hope whoever there is is okay. ‘I remember this building, but if it is not used it would be better if it were demolished’.
