Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill Week 8 Status Update

It looks like Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will indeed have all of his best playmakers when he returns to the roster. Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.

That includes wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who was listed as questionable on the final injury report of the week with a foot injury but is expected to play, according to a social media post by ESPN’s Adam Schefter late Saturday night.

Hill did not practice Friday, but head coach Mike McDaniel said he was optimistic both he and starter Jaylen Waddle could play against Arizona.

Waddle practiced on Friday and was taken off the injury report without stating his playing status.

If Hill actually plays, the Dolphins will be at full strength offensively with the players on their active roster.

The two players ruled out Friday were defensive tackle Zach Sieler and cornerback Kader Kohou, and one of the players listed as questionable was cornerback Storm Duck.

Having Hill in the lineup will clearly make a difference for Tagovailoa, who will be back behind center for the first time since Thursday night, Sept. 12.

After passing for over 300 yards in the opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tagovailoa struggled in the second game against the Buffalo Bills before leaving with a concussion.

The Dolphins will face an Arizona defense that is missing three of its five starters due to injuries: nose tackle Roy Lopez, outside linebacker Dennis Gardeck and cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting.

Using Tagovailoa’s career as a reference, this will be his third start after missing two or more games.

In 2021, he returned after missing three games to face the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, England and put up good numbers, going 33-for-47 for 329 with two touchdowns and one passer rating for a 96.1 passer rating, but the Dolphins lost 23-20. on a last second shot.

The next season, Tagovailoa returned after missing more than two games with a concussion in Sunday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, going 21-of-35 for 261 yards with one touchdown, no picks, and a 92.7 passer rating despite the Steelers’ fumble. was. at least two, if not three, possible interceptions.

Offensive coordinator Frank Smith said this week that he expects Tagovailoa to not miss a beat in his return and hopes a full week of practice will put him in a better spot than his last outing, when two wide receivers waived a Grant request. DuBose and Robbie Select, who elevates the practice squad.

And we remember that two of his three interceptions that night in Week 2 came on passes to DuBuse and Chosen.

This time, Odell Beckham Jr. is in Tagovailoa’s squad. will be featured, and perhaps Tua’s return could bring Beckham into the offense, having failed to catch a pass in either of his first two games with the Dolphins with Tyler Huntley at quarterback.

Since this is his first game back and the passing game wasn’t exactly buzzing when he was injured, it’s probably unfair to expect a perfect win from Tagovailoa against the Cardinals.

But having Hill could provide the big play that was missed last month.
