Borderlands fan diagnosed with stage 4 cancer sees GoFundMe raise over $10,000 to meet his goal, days after the gaming community got involved

Earlier this week, Caleb McAlpine, a self-proclaimed “die-hard” fan of the Borderlands looter shooter series, shared: was diagnosed with terminal stage 4 cancer and subsequently contacted the game’s developer Hoping you can play Border Region 4 early. But that’s not the only thing the Borderlands community has helped with, as funding for his treatment has skyrocketed since then.

McAlpine explained that doctors estimate that he has 7-12 months to live in the worst-case scenario, and that even if he responds well to chemotherapy treatment, he may not survive another two years. That’s why McAlpine reached out to the community social media and asked if there was a chance to play Borderlands 4, which comes out next year, before its official release.
