Madeleine’s Petit Paris, which has been operating in Northvale for 36 years and Northvale for more than 29 years, will permanently close its doors this weekend, the restaurant announced Thursday.

October 27 will be the French restaurant and catering hall’s last day.

“It has been a pleasure serving our wonderful customers during this time,” a message on the restaurant’s website said. “We have been really lucky to have great bosses who have supported us all these years. We were happy to welcome you to our home and many others to our hearts.”

The reason for the closure was not disclosed.

When the owners of the restaurant announced that it was closed, support poured in for the restaurant on social media.

“My family and I have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and Christmas Eve here, as well as the day I passed the bar exam,” one person wrote. “Food and service were always great!”

“I will always cherish the memories of your beautiful restaurant where I hosted the perfect bridal shower,” another person wrote. “I wish you all the best as you begin a new chapter!”

Born in the town of Miege in the Swiss Alps, chef Gaspard Caloz and his wife opened Madeline Chez Madeleine Restaurant in Bergenfield in 1988.

In May 2000, the duo took their talents to Madeleine’s Petit Paris, retiring in 2020 and passing the business on to their son Francois.
