Judge did not allow Gledhill to talk to his children

SALT LAKE CITY — Jennifer Gledhill appeared in court again Friday to get permission to talk to her young children Behind bars for allegedly killing her husband.

During the hearing, Gledhill’s attorney argued that the pretrial protective order banning him from contacting the children was “misplaced and allowed.”

The attorney said the children should be allowed to contact Gledhill because they were not victims in the case or any other domestic violence incident.

Gledhill’s children, ages 11, 7 and 5, have been in the custody of the Utah Division of Children and Family Services since their arrest in the death of their mother, Matthew Johnson.

on thursday, Gledhill’s parents were both taken into custody and face multiple obstruction of justice charges He allegedly helped his daughters clean the bedroom where he was accused of shooting Johnson while he slept.

Johnson’s body has not yet been found.

“My client has already lost his freedom at this point,” Gledhill’s lawyer added. “It’s as if the state, the city, and the police department investigating this are trying to set fire to everything my client loves.”

At the end of the hearing, Judge Adam Mow actually lifted the pre-trial protection order but issued a separate no-contact order to be enforced, meaning Gledhill is still not allowed to have contact with the children.

Mow said he would be willing to make exceptions to the no-contact order as the case progresses as it will impact not only Gledhill but also the children.
