Top Tight Ends Will Feature in Raiders-Chiefs

This Sunday will be the first of two AFC West matchups between the Las Vegas Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs this season.

This season hasn’t started the way the Raiders expected, and their 2-5 record shows that. As for the reigning back-to-back Super Bowl champions, the Chiefs are undefeated at 6-0, where they should be at this point in the season.

The Raiders go into Arrowhead Stadium as the underdogs, but some underdog stories are the best stories to tell. If the Raiders find a way to pull off an upset victory on the road, there’s a good chance their rookie end will have something to do with it. Even though he’s still very early in his career, Brock Bowers has the potential to rank near or even better than Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce by the time his career is over.

Bowers was an absolute beast to begin his NFL career and has been one of the most consistent Raiders as a rookie this season. He narrowly broke the NFL record with 47 strikeouts in the first seven games of his career. This record had stood since 1988, when Keith Jackson broke it for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Bowers has 477 receiving yards and a single touchdown so far in his rookie season. Bowers will score, but until then he may need to watch Kelce when he’s on the floor to see if he tends to leave some space on the sideline. Raider Nation is hoping Kelce’s day will be limited to production, but seeing him and his style of play up close might be the best thing for Bowers.

Kelce has had a storied career and will likely be a first-ballot Hall of Famer. A three-time Super Bowl Champion, Kelce has accomplished a lot in his 11 years in the NFL. He has thrown for 74 touchdowns, two passing touchdowns and 11,573 receiving yards. While those are impressive numbers, Bowers is doing much better on the stat sheet this season.

Bowers leads all tight ends in the NFL with 474 receiving yards. Kelce ranks 14th in this category with 245 points. Bowers has the most receptions with 47 points, while Kelce is fourth with 28 points.

Bowers has had more individual production than Kelce this season, but at the end of the day, all that matters is getting wins and Coach Antonio Pierce knows that has to change.

“This can’t just be the Brock Bowers show, because that’s not helping us win right now,” Pierce said. in question After the Raiders’ loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
