Tennessee man arrested for allegedly shooting at Hazel Green vehicle during road rage incident

A Tennessee man was taken into custody Thursday after he allegedly opened fire on an occupied car during a traffic accident in Alabama earlier this week, authorities said.

Donnie Kent, 29, is being held in the Lincoln County, Tennessee jail and will be extradited to Madison County in connection with the incident in Hazel Green, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office said.

The sheriff’s office said it received a report of a road rage incident involving a vehicle driving recklessly and dangerously “earlier this week” on Highway 231 North in Hazel Green. The office did not specify exactly when the incident occurred, but it goes like this: Separate from another road rage incident in Hazel Green including shooting and being attacked with a baseball bat.

During a joint investigation with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, detectives from both agencies identified Kent as the suspect.

He was accused of two counts of shooting into a vehicle loaded with a firearm; Sheriff’s detectives said they expect new charges against Kent.

“We are pleased to announce an arrest in this case, providing closure for the victims involved,” Madison County Sheriff Kevin Turner said in a statement.

“We appreciate the cooperation and support provided by Sheriff Tull Malone and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office throughout this investigation. “The successful solving and capture of the criminal reflects the strong partnership between both agencies and our unwavering commitment to public safety.”
