Dozens of people died after a truck crashed into a bus stop near Tel Aviv

Israel’s emergency services are treating dozens of injured people after a truck crashed into a bus dropping off passengers at a bus stop near the Glilot military base north of Tel Aviv on Sunday morning.

A spokesman for the Israeli police said a preliminary investigation showed that the truck collided with passengers as well as the bus.

Israeli police said civilians at the scene “shot at the truck driver and neutralized him.”

The circumstances of the crash are under investigation and police have not said whether they are treating the incident as a suspected terrorist attack or a traffic accident.

In a video posted on X, Ronit Glazer of Magen David Adom, Israel’s emergency medical service, described a chaotic scene when responders received a call of a “mass casualty incident” near Glilot Junction.

He said MDA sent “care units, ambulances, motorcycles, first responders, paramedics and emergency crews” to the scene, where staff evacuated “around 20 injured people,” including six seriously injured.

Volunteer emergency services United Hatzalah said “many pedestrians” were involved and people were trapped under the truck for 30 minutes after the incident.

Police and emergency services continue to work at the scene.
