Penn State quarterback Drew Allar suffered an apparent knee injury during Saturday’s win over Wisconsin, indicating he could be out for No. 4 Ohio State next week.

Allar was seen limping off the field in the second quarter.

Allar came out of the tunnel in the second half and practiced shooting on the sideline, but did not return to the game. Backup quarterback Beau Pribula completed the win in his place.

Allar was seen celebrating with his teammates after the match.

Before his injury, Allar was 14-of-18 for 148 yards and a touchdown.

On Saturday, the Penn State quarterback matched his college career high by completing 70.5 percent of his passes in six games. His 1,492 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and four interceptions helped the Nittany Lions improve to a season-opening record of 6-0 and a No. 3 ranking in the AP poll.

Penn State, now 7-0, is set to host No. 4 Ohio State next Saturday.

Penn State has not won a game against Ohio State since October 2016; a contest highlighted by the Buckeyes’ field goal attempt, which was returned for a game-winning goal in the game’s final minutes.

The good news for the Nittany Lions was that their roster depth shined through Saturday night as the Buckeyes were down three points when Allar left the game.

Pribula later went 11-of-13 for 98 yards and a touchdown, adding 28 yards on six carries, while safety Jaylen Reed made key defensive plays to lead Penn State to the victory.

If Allar can return, Penn State has the best chance of improving to 8-0. If he leaves the team next Saturday, the Nittany Lions will need one more big game from Pribula to get back on the winning side of the competition.
