Kayunga NRM boss collapsed and died in court

The Busaana district chairman of the ruling NRM party collapsed and died during a court session, leaving residents of Kayunga Town shocked.

The shocking incident came to light on Thursday when 56-year-old Alex Kenyi collapsed and died during a court session.

Eyewitnesses reported that Kenyi testified in a land dispute case and accused another resident of illegally taking over land in Namagabi village when the sudden collapse occurred.

The court, presided over by Magistrate Emmanuel Perimba, immediately suspended the proceedings.

Mr Henry Kaggwa, LC1 chairman of Namagabi A village, who witnessed the incident, said: “The deceased had just stood up on the dock when he collapsed. Court officials rushed him to Kayunga District Referral Hospital where he was pronounced dead.”

Mr Kaggwa added that Kenyi was suffering from health problems and rode his motorcycle to court.

Kayunga North NRM chairman, Mr Livingstone Kyagaba, remembered Kenyi as a humble and loyal supporter of the party.

“Whenever NRM issues arose, Kenyi would come forward to support his party,” Mr Kyagaba said.

The family of the deceased is waiting for the autopsy report to determine the cause of death.
