Mount Nittany Health welcomes Kavita Goyal, MD | News, Sports, Jobs

DR. KAVITA GOYAL

STATE COLLEGE – Mount Nittany Health has introduced Kavita Goyal, MD, as a primary care and weight management provider.

Dr. Goyal knew from an early age that he wanted to be a doctor.

“When I was in 7th grade, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer,” she shared. “I remember when he had the surgery, he said to me, ‘When you grow up and become a doctor, make sure you treat your patients with love and compassion.’ “This gave me direction, passion and a way to change people’s lives.”

This early experience led Dr. He shaped Goyal’s approach to patient care, which aligns perfectly with Mount Nittany Health’s commitment to compassionate, personalized healthcare.

“As an internist, many of my patients are admitted to the emergency room for acute health issues,” he said, explaining his decision to join Mount Nittany Health. “They always had tremendous care here, and I knew this was where I wanted to be a doctor.”

Dr. Goyal’s expertise is in both internal medicine and weight management.

“I have always loved being an internist because it doesn’t limit what I can do for treatment and disease,” he shared. “But after practicing for 7-8 years, I felt like something was missing. More than 50 percent of my patients struggled with weight control; obesity was the root cause of many health problems; “I knew I had to do more.”

This is why he is pursuing board certification in Obesity Medicine. He enjoys helping patients lose weight and improve their overall health.

“It is incredibly rewarding to see patients heal, lose weight, improve their health, and overcome stress,” he said.

Dr. Goyal’s philosophy of care is based on a holistic approach to patient well-being.

“A good doctor treats the disease, but a good doctor also treats the patient with the disease,” he shared. “In internal medicine and weight management, I aim to not only help patients heal, but also help them prevent disease and redefine themselves through weight loss and overall health improvements.”

Dr. Goyal wants his patients to know that his care goes beyond the exam room.

“If you’re looking for a doctor who connects, cares, and builds a relationship with you, I’d love to see you in the office,” she said. “If you are looking for a doctor who can help you beyond treating diseases, please contact us.”

Dr. Beyond clinical care, Goyal is also passionate about patient education and advocacy. Offers patient education on behavior modification, exercise, diet and other aspects of weight management. “It’s all part of weight management,” he emphasized.

Dr. Dr. Goyal is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine. He completed his medical education at the State Hospital. The College of Medicine and Hospital in Aurangabad, India, was followed by residencies at affiliates of Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. His experience includes establishing and managing the Obesity Management Program at Penn Highlands Healthcare, where he has had notable success with employee weight loss programs.

“Outside of work, I found a passion for Indian classical dance and stage performances,” he shared. “I also love spending time with my children in various activities. Recently, my son had a book published and it inspired me to write a book too.”

With his extensive experience in internal medicine and obesity management, his commitment to patient-centered care, and his vision for expanded community health services, Dr. Goyal is a valuable addition to Mount Nittany Health.
