A lawsuit was filed against the woman hit by a truck regarding the fatal accident

A man has been charged over a fatal crash in South Lanarkshire.

Victoria Cairns died in hospital on Wednesday after being hit by a pickup truck in the Farmeloan Road area of ​​Rutherglen on Saturday.

A 33-year-old man was arrested and charged with road traffic offenses in connection with the incident.

He was driving an orange Mitsubishi pickup truck when he hit Ms Cairns, who was walking in the area.

The 40-year-old pedestrian was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment and died four days later.

The investigation continues to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Sergeant Andrew Coutts said: “Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends at this difficult time. They have asked for their privacy to be respected.

“Our investigations are ongoing and I would once again urge anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage and has not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers to contact us as soon as possible.”
