Human anatomy is quite complex. Even professional doctors can sometimes get confused when examining a patient with the naked eye. For this reason, it is recommended to have the necessary tests and scans before starting treatment. Ignorance can cause serious illness and have a lasting impact on a person’s health. Twelve years ago, when a man with a huge belly went to the doctor, he was prescribed obesity medications. But recently, Thomas Kraut learned that the real reason he was overweight was a large malignant tumor.

The 59-year-old man first experienced health problems in 2011 when he noticed an unusual growth on his stomach. A year later, he visited a doctor who guessed the cause was type 2 diabetes and obesity, according to a report by the New York Post. Kraut had resorted to nutrition classes and routine exercise to lose weight as the cancer developed inside her.

A 27kg tumor was discovered when the man underwent a scan for gastric sleeve surgery to address his obesity problem. During his interaction with the publication, he shared his shocking experience. “My stomach was getting bigger and bigger. I went from doctor to doctor and was finally approved for gastric sleeve surgery in 2019. The doctors were only talking about overweight and diabetes. Due to diabetes, I was prescribed Ozempic and had to attend nutrition and fitness courses for several years before the gastric sleeve surgery.” said Kraut.

After losing a lot of weight, Kraut noticed that the fat on her face and arms had decreased but there was no change in the size of her belly. “My stomach was just too big. “The doctor even said that I was actually malnourished,” he recalled.

Kraut could get the shock of his life when a CT scan revealed a large tumor. In early September, he underwent a lengthy 10-hour surgery to remove the tumor. However, the operation was partially successful because the cancerous tissue could not be completely removed. “I go to the psychologist for therapy every two weeks. I have to go to the oncologist twice a year because I still have tumor tissue growing inside me. We were told it couldn’t be removed because it was attached to several organs,” Kraut said.

Thomas Kraut’s small intestine was severely damaged by the tumor. His right kidney also had to be removed and all this was due to the delay in treatment.
