One-time presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is now vying for a spot in President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet, said Wednesday that the Food and Drug Administration’s nutrition departments “need to go” because the departments are “not doing their job.” We do not protect our children.

“Why do we have 18 or 19-ingredient Froot Loops in this country, and when you go to Canada you have two or three,” the former presidential candidate said in an interview on MSNBC the day after Trump was elected the 47th president.

Kellogg’s website listings There are more than 20 ingredients in the Canadian product. The main difference between the two seems to be the type of dyes used in the colorful fruit-flavored cereals. In March, Kellogg investor Jason Karp, founder of holding company HumanCo, sent a letter Kellogg claimed that Froot Loops in America had “harmful artificial dyes” while Froot Loops in Canada did not. He called for the company to change its US prescription.

Kennedy said he would not force government agencies to be eliminated as long as Congressional approval was required to eliminate them. Instead, he said, he believed he could take the “corruption” out of them.

“When they are free from corruption, when Americans get good signs and are allowed to make their own choices, they will be much healthier,” he said.

The FDA did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Trump said he would offer Kennedy a role in his administration, and on “The Joe Rogan Podcast,” Trump said he told Kennedy “you can focus on health, you can do whatever you want.”
