Jury selection for former prosecutor accused in Arbery case has been announced

BRUNSWICK, Ga. (WTOC) – Glynn County Superior Court has set a date for jury selection in the Jackie Johnson case.

Jackson is the former Brunswick district attorney. Johnson is accused of interfering with the police investigation into the 2020 killing of black jogger Ahmaud Arbery.

All parties will meet for a hearing at 9 a.m. on December 11 at the Glynn County Courthouse for the court to hear all pending motions and issues prior to trial.

Jury selection will be held at 9 a.m. on Jan. 21, followed by a jury trial.

Three white men, including a former police officer, were eventually charged with the murder of Arbery, who had family ties to the CSRA and is buried near Waynesboro.

No charges were filed for weeks until video of the incident was leaked to the media.

The three men convicted in the case – Greg McMichael, his son Travis McMichael and their former neighbor William “Roddie” Bryan – Trying to get a new trial using arguments ranging from a flawed jury to ineffective counsel for one of the men.
