Huntsville man charged with assault after stabbing

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHEN) — The Huntsville Police Department says a man has been arrested following a stabbing on Tuesday.

According to the Huntsville Police Department, officers were on patrol in the 2200 block of Memorial Parkway when they were flagged down by a citizen in the parking lot of a nearby motel.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a man on the ground with a stab wound. HPD said witnesses told officers two people were involved in the fight that resulted in the stabbing.

After witnesses provided a description of the suspect, officers located Savannus Terone Mallet, 27, of Huntsville, near the area.

Following further investigation, Mallet was arrested and charged with non-familial knife assault.

HPD tells News 19 the victim was taken to Huntsville Hospital with serious physical injuries.

Huntsville Police believe the incident is isolated.

Mallet was remanded to the Madison County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
