Mukwonago School Board member dies of murder and suicide, authorities say

Police did not identify the victims at the time but later confirmed they were Schwartz and Michelle Lynn Brown.

The Waukesha County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Schwartz’s cause of death was a homicide due to a gunshot wound.

Brown’s cause of death is stated as suicide. He and Schwartz were living together in the house. According to the statement, the investigation into the matter continues.

Mukwonago Area School District announced Schwartz’s death in a statement on Nov. 2. He leaves four children, all of whom are graduates or current students of Mukwonago High School.

“Vito was a strong supporter of our district,” Joe Koch, superintendent of the Mukwonago Area School District, said in the district’s statement. “In addition to his work on the school board, Vito was also active in the community as a co-owner of the school. Semper Fi Roofing and a proud veteran of the Marine Corps. He will be missed very much. We have a strong community and we will get through the loss of Vito together. ”
