Pittsburgh Steelers Rookie Injury Concerns Grow

The Pittsburgh Steelers released their injury report following Friday’s practice as they train for their Monday Night Football matchup with the New York Giants in Week 8.

Rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson (hamstring) received the DNP tag for the second consecutive day, raising additional concerns about his availability.

Current Alan Saunders of Pittsburgh Sports reported On Thursday, it was said that Wilson, who was inactive in Week 7 after initially being listed as questionable due to the injury, made the situation worse in Wednesday’s practice.

The Michigan product has pitched just five times this season, all of which came in Week 6 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Wilson suffered an ankle injury earlier in the year, but was still healthy inactive after his recovery. Both he and the Steelers made it easy to get him back into the swing of things.

Safety DeShon Elliott (back), who made an unexpected appearance on the report and did not practice Thursday, was limited on Friday.

Running back/kicker Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle), who returned to Thursday’s practice for the first time since then. It starts to decline in the 4th week The action against the Indianapolis Colts was limited to the second straight day.

Outside linebacker Nick Herbig (hamstring) was not in the game and was listed as a DNP. Has not participated since suffers from injury Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Safety Damontae Kazee (ankle) and cornerback Donte Jackson (shoulder) were full participants on consecutive days, meaning they will likely start Monday.

Defensive tackle Keeanu Benton (calf) practiced fully after registering in limited numbers on Thursday.

On the other hand, defender Tyler Matakevich (hamstring) remained limited, while offensive tackle Dylan Cook (foot) was a full participant. Both players are currently on the reserve/injured list and have had 21-day training windows open as they work toward a return.
